You can find the entire thing here: https://www.yahoo.com/tv/girl-meets-world-why-disney-062327710.html

The most interesting thing I saw was this: Among Disney Channel’s target demographic, Girl Meets World was the network’s #5 series in Kids 6-11 and #3 in Tweens 9-14 for 2016. Since Disney Channel is ad-supported, not getting enough traction in the target demos the network sells is a problem.

So even though GMW was the #1 show on the network in total viewers, it seems that the largest part of those viewers was people like us, who are obviously not Disney's target demographic.1960posterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01319497662389419606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-382001792347152845.post-73156369404879742662017-01-13T03:05:18.886-08:002017-01-13T03:05:18.886-08:00I would highly doubt they'd cancel a show pure...I would highly doubt they'd cancel a show purely to get a cast member out and into a new vehicle - if for no other reason, in that it could easily backfire. In particular with Rowan and Sabrina, as being regulars they've built up strong friendships with most of the other cast; and also, they may not trust Disney, especially with how the cancellation was handled. (I never mind a show being cancelled precisely; but the way this one was handled stunk.)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06033285584106079567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-382001792347152845.post-60043318800749054772017-01-13T02:13:50.024-08:002017-01-13T02:13:50.024-08:00Milestones, Disney went to Jacobs and asked him if...Milestones, Disney went to Jacobs and asked him if he'd like to reboot BMW on their network. He told them no because he had a story to tell, and he felt he told it and was satisfied with the results.

After talking with this partner though he went back to Disney and told them he would be willing to do a BMW sequel with C&T as the parents and featuring their child. Disney ate that shit up and green-lit the series.

So in answer to your question, their was never any other place for this show to start, because Jacobs wasn't looking to create it until the Mouse House came to him. And once they said yes he had no reason to think about looking elsewhere for the new show, which in my opinion was too bad.1960posterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01319497662389419606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-382001792347152845.post-10674282798639921972017-01-12T19:51:04.989-08:002017-01-12T19:51:04.989-08:00A few random, rambling thoughts/belated replies/qu...A few random, rambling thoughts/belated replies/questions while waiting for the chance to watch what appears to be a promotional featurette at the same time you down there watch the series finale.

Didn’t the Disney Channel approach MJ, and wasn’t theirs the only offer on the table? Or were there other suitors? Did he have the leverage to insist on a more mature venue?

I have no understanding of any of the factors, and certainly no inside information, about GMW’s cancellation or about any hope for rescue. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Disney Channel were desirous of getting at least one popular young cast member out of GMW and in a vehicle more consistently idiomatic of the network.

I have always taken it as a given that Disney has held the show back. Sure, for example, Hollywood made great movies during the Production Code era, and could use subtext and suggestion to at least hint at forbidden content. But the Disney yoke might be far more restrictive, and governs not just what can’t be shown but what must be shown. In criticizing the episodes, it’s perfectly fine to wish that, say, Riley was under recurring threat of physical violence at middle school, or that the Farkle episode was a documentary-style excursion through neurological testing, or that the vague references to atrocities in Great Lady of New York were replaced by content that would feel like a field trip to Babi Yar. But, as an expectation or demand, that has always seemed unrealistic.

Not that the show is blameless, or anything like that. One of the things that became clear working through BMW was that these guys are fully capable of making a bad TV episode without Disney’s help.

A couple of people have mentioned me and other frequent commenters in their praise of GMWR. While I will certainly accept, and appreciate, the complement, and am happy if I have occasionally added a bit of reading value, I’m trusting it’s blindingly obvious to everyone that Christian and Sean deserve 100% of the accolades for Christian and Sean’s wonderful blog.

Rowan & Sabrina. In becoming a fan of GMW, and with the Riley-Maya axis being the reason I was fan, I was nevertheless determined not to become a fan of two actual teenage girls. But that is kind of what of happened anyway. They both may or may not be on a rocketship to eternal validation, but they will probably both go on to have careers worthy of following.

I won’t be taking any test.milestones1958https://www.blogger.com/profile/17399359189984453459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-382001792347152845.post-13979625124629030882017-01-12T19:48:42.353-08:002017-01-12T19:48:42.353-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.milestones1958https://www.blogger.com/profile/17399359189984453459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-382001792347152845.post-14491957551457950332017-01-11T15:15:27.062-08:002017-01-11T15:15:27.062-08:00I am most like Riley, which doesn't surprise m...I am most like Riley, which doesn't surprise me.
Josh the character with a crush on me, which did surprise me. I got super fan for the trivia quiz.

According to this quiz, Lucas should be with Maya which I agree with, but mainly because I pictured this series having a longer run.

In my headcannon, Lucas and Maya become the lead couple that breaks up and gets back together, while Riley is the one dating multiple people over the course of the series. In the end, Riley realizes that the perfect guy for her is Farkle, after Isadora broke up with Farkle because she found someone else. Farkle and Isadora breaking up would in one of the episodes right before the series finale (at least in my version where the series ran until the end of high school, if not through part of college)Kit Cosmohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08840686815409700687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-382001792347152845.post-37713383674777105692017-01-11T15:03:42.331-08:002017-01-11T15:03:42.331-08:00Thanks for the shout out. With some cable providers Disney uses this instead of having a standard agreement with the provider.

I can't use the Disney app or the Watch Disney website even though I'm a Disney Channel customer, but with this channel I get most all new Disney Channel content between 5-7 days early and without it, I have no access to On-Demand for new Disney episodes.

It varies from provider to provider. But now that GMW has been cancelled I just want to say that reading this blog (and the comments) has been more fun than this season. So thank you Sean and Christian, I have appreciated your efforts.

I watched BMW and that nostalgia led to me watching this show. I am glad for some of the Eric/Shawn moments even if I found the nonsense triangle more boring than my six hour accounting case study and I am still really mad that Alan Matthews' appearance was so inconsequential. It's a footnote at the end of BMW that could have been more.

I'm not sad the show is ending as it never really delivered on its potential. Honestly I don't think a Disney show ever could. I felt like a lot of people didn't know what the fuck they were talking about when it came to Boy Meets World, and I had a lot to say, so I had to get that out. Fresh Prince and Scrubs, it's like, everyone already knows why they're great. Would a review blog change anyone's mind about those two? I doubt it."

I'm in a similar spot. I started Girl Meets World Reviewed as a reaction to not seeing any good reviews of the show anywhere else. They were all either cloyingly positive on fan sites or were looked at too objectively like on places like Entertainment Weekly, where they obviously didn't have the fandom to appreciate it. There weren't any voices like mine - people who could call the show on its shit but also loved the franchise and the characters to a degree where I wouldn't be too jaded to appreciate it.

But I'm not sure if there's another show that exists like that. There's plenty of shows I like as much or more than BMW, but they're either so good or mainstream that they receive plenty of well-thought out reviews and my voices isn't needed, or they're so obscure and/or old that I don't think a market exists for reviews.
