Episode Review: "Girl Meets Money" (#2.27)

Hello everyone. I'm going to tell you a story with pictures.

I don't actually mind, I just like BUSTIN' CHOPS. Take it from me, I know a lot about chops, and Christian has some busted chops right now.

I don't think anyone is going to pretend that we did a good job with the last episode's review. But this week it's a full course meal. Eight courses. A hundred courses. Like the meals in Game of Thrones. Because you deserve it. Because I want Girl Meets World Reviewed to be spoken of in the same breath as the other great review blogs, like... like Boy Meets World Reviewed. Let's get started.

Episode Review: "Girl Meets STEM" (#2.26)

Hey chaps! Welcome back! Have a good break? I did! Much fun and merriment and holidays and friends and parties and, most importantly of all, I received a PlayStation 4! Much Fallout 4 has been had.

But now, to business. So, I'm going to be honest, I'd never heard of this term 'STEM' before this episode. In school, I tended to get excellent grades in English and History, but pretty mediocre grades in Math and Science. I actually haven't taken a math class since junior year of high school I don't think. I went to art school. I was generally aware of the stereotype that boys were better at the sciences and girls were better at the humanities, and it kind of seemed to track and it never really struck me as super sexist just because neither of those seemed any inherently 'better' than the other.

Holiday Cheer

It's that special time of year. Christian has the flu and is begging for death via facebook status and my personal life has become a dumpster fire.

But we rise above. I sit here now with some microwaved pizza rolls and a vodka red bull with too much vodka, watching a Christmas episode of Scrubs.

Have a good one lads and lasses. I hope Christian doesn't die.

Merry Christmas, all! Today is much less dire health-wise than yesterday, I managed a whole trip to Barnes & Noble to buy a book for my dad and one for me! And now back to bed.

Want to celebrate the Christmas in true Matthews style? Watch Santa's Little Helper, Santa's Little Helpers, Easy Street, A Very Topanga Christmas, or Girl Meets Home for the Holidays. Some of those are good episodes! I think I liked A Very Topanga Christmas more than Sean did.

You know what else has some good Christmas episodes? The West Wing. I'm just saying. They got some good ones. "Noel" is my favorite.

Merry Christmas, everyone! Or Happy Hanukkah! Which I think is already over.

Very Topanga Christmas is probably the least-good Christmas episode. Just make sure you all watch Girl Meets The New Year on New Year's, since, hoo boy, that's just your favorite, innit.

You think Easy Street is better than A Very Topanga Christmas? That's insane. That's nuts, my friend.

Shawn bias.

Episode Review: "Girl Meets the New Year" (#2.25)

I tell ya, when you're right, you're right, Sarah.

So this is my first watch and I'm just gonna review as it goes.

X amount of time has passed since Texas, and regardless of what X is, it's too long for Maya not to have told Riley that she and Lucas didn't kiss. That's step one. Step zero. If you want me to believe that Maya and Riley are the best friends in the world, you can't miss the little details. Apparently "Life" wants to know what's going on between Maya and Lucas. I'm honestly sick to my untimely death of the writers trying to be cute by inserting the fanbase into the show. Sick of them being cute in general. I just need you to write the show. Drink coffee, and write the show. That's all I need from you. And the coffee's optional.

Happy Thanksgiving from Girl Meets World Reviewed

"Come on, you big chunk of ice! Be a turkey! Be a big turkey! Gobble gobble, block of ice!"

It's Thanksgiving! Give thanks! Hug your family! Watch "Turkey Day" and (if time permits) "Chasing Angela."

I recommend the Sam Adams Octoberfest. It's too early for the Winter Lager, put that down. Have some self respect.

Girl Meets World Reviewed has been RENEWED for Season 3 (And what we want to see)

Sean and I are very excited to announce that Season 3 of "Girl Meets World Reviewed" will be coming your way in 2016! It was touch and go there for a while, but following August Maturo's announcement (if some dumb child can be trusted) that filming for Season 3 is beginning in January, it sounds like we're going to be sticking around.

I'll be free some day.

Some day.

Also, this is the 100th post on this blog. That's sort of fitting. Utterly meaningless, with all the nonsense we've posted, but still.

So hey, Glorious Comrade Anon wants to know what we'd like to see in season 3. That's a great question, and the best answer I have so far is "Girl Meets Grandparents."

Boy Meets World knocked that one out in its first season. We're long overdue. Everybody hates spending time with their grandparents, so it'll be easy to find a relatable access point for the plot. It's not like William Russ and Betsy Randle have their plates full or anything. What the hell are you doing these days Russ? Going fishing six days a week? Just come in for a few scenes, it's easy. And your stupid Christmas episode doesn't count. If they can get Blake Clarke in here for an episode that actually matters, then you need to suck it up and fulfill your destiny.

Other than that, I'd love to see more conflict between Riley and Maya. Conflict between the kids in general is good, but any conflict involving Lucas usually boils down to him sitting there looking morally superior . I'd also like to see GMW's analogue of Danger Boy. "The one where Riley takes some risks," essentially. Her brief goth phase was almost the right idea, but nobody actually took it seriously. It wasn't development, it was just "Oh I was fine the way I was and I don't need to change." I want change. Is it fair to say that Riley has changed the least out of everyone?

Christian? Readers?

I'll tell you one thing William Russ is up to these days - directing episodes of Girl Meets World! He directed "Girl Meets Hurricane." So, if he can show up on set to do that, he can show up to play Alan Matthews. SAME GOES FOR YOU, RIDER. WHERE THE HELL HAS SHAWN BEEN?

My idea for a Girl Meets Grandparents episode is that Cory, Topanga, Riley and Auggie go to visit with them in Philly (if they can do the old house set, that'd be great, but I'm fine with the Matthews having moved, since it didn't feel like they were next-door to Feeny anymore) and Maya tags along with the hopes of interacting with Josh. Riley's dreading it because she thinks Philly is boring and her grandparents are boring, and maybe Lucas, Zay, and Farkle are up to something fun back in New York (offscreen), but eventually she like... learns to appreciate her grandparents or something. And some Cory and Alan scenes might be nice.

It wasn't fair to Alan and Amy that their (one) return episode was Shawn's reintroduction. They deserve an episode of their own where they can get more focus. Also, am I crazy, or did Cory and Eric have a sister?

Any and all returns in Season 3 should be better spread out as well. Shawn and Eric were all over the front half of Season 2 (along with Turner, Harley, Angela, Chet, Jack, etc.) and now it seems that's all disappeared. Nothing concrete seems to be on the horizon except for a return engagement from the Minkii who, let's face it, are not the most exciting returns. I don't need as many returns as last time - I never need to see Harley, Angela, Chet, or Jack again, and I only need Turner/Shawn closure and I'm fine with being done with Turner too) but Shawn and Eric we absolutely need. If you can only do 2-3 episodes a season for each, fine, but spread those throughout the season so there's stuff to look forward to. And, also, try to do more than 2-3 episodes a season for them.

And then just the obvious stuff - I'd like them to give Cory and (especially) Topanga more to do.

I don't know. I don't have any Riley/Lucas/Maya/Farkle thoughts right now. I'm kind of getting bored of them.

Episode Review: "Girl Meets Belief" (#2.23)

Maya doesn't believe in God, therefore she doesn't "believe in anything." Lemme just check the math there... I see... yes... Yes, it's all coming together...
OH.

WAIT.

THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL. It was the exact same thing in Cult Fiction (with the same script writer, actually, Jeff Menell). Shawn isn't sure if he believes in God, therefore he has "no beliefs."

Episode Review: "Girl Meets the Forgiveness Project" (#2.23)

And so it BEGAN. The Match of the Millenium. The Race of the Rillenium.

I think brushing your teeth is the worst aspect of the human experience. We've got unrequited love, impending and inevitable death, and the recurring desire to go to the bar as soon as it closes. Brushing your teeth is worse than all that.

Christian is out being a thespian this evening, so let's all wish him good luck with the show. BECAUSE THAT MEANS BAD LUCK, MUAHAHAHHAHAHHA.

I'm stalling. Let's get started.

Happy Halloween!

It's not lupus.

I'm Dr. Greg House for Halloween. Christian hasn't watched House because he sucks. He probably wouldn't like it anyway because, again, he sucks. My other costume consideration was J.D. from Scrubs. I absolutely love Scrubs, I think everyone alive today (with a Netflix subscription) should watch the first seven seasons of Scrubs. I have watched them many many times. The only series I've honestly considered doing another solo review blog for is Scrubs. Everybody loves the show, but no one really talks about why, outside of "Dr. Cox is awesome." There's so much going on, including my long standing theory that Elliot is the best character on the show, and I have so much to say about every episode of seasons 1 through 7. Season 8 is bad. Season 9 doesn't exist.

But anyway, I also adore House, but it wouldn't be that fun to review. Everyone knows why House is awesome, and its flaws don't require any real analysis to understand. On the other hand, I think I have a lot of interesting things to say about Scrubs.

Anyway, happy Halloweenday everyone. I'd love to see your costumes.
