- I really don't know what the "Goodbye" will be. MAYBE Lucas will move back to Texas? It feels like someone has to leave, and I don't know who else it could be. The Matthews and the Hunters don't make sense to be leaving, Farkle's not a big enough deal. I think it's got to be Lucas. It's also possible the name won't mean anything, and it's just "Goodbye" in that it's the last episode.
- Katy will be revealed to be pregnant. Possibly the reason everyone's present is for some sort of baby shower.
- Topanga may ALSO be pregnant, as this would better justify people like the Matthews coming to a baby shower. This would give them a "Shawn and Cory are going to have two children who will be the same age and be best friends!" bit I suspect they won't be able to avoid.
- Eric will announce his candidacy for President in 2020. That'll be mainly what his role is. He'll say he's running for President, and Alan, Amy, and Feeny will be like "Oh god!"
- The Morgans will only have enough lines to make a joke about two Morgans. It'll be something like Morgan shows up with a friend in tow, also named Morgan, and they're like "You're both Morgans? That's confusing!" BIG WINK TO THE AUDIENCE! Morgan Matthews will be Lindsay Ridgeway though, Lily Nicksay will be the friend. I base this on Lily not being blonde in the photo.
- We'll get only the most token explanation of what Morgan's been up to. Possibly that she's a singer, possibly that she lives on the west coast to justify her lack of appearance.
- Shawn and Katy (and MAYBE Eric and/or Josh) are the only non-main cast members in this picture who will appear in more than one big group scene near the end. Most of the rest will just get a token final moment.
- Turner's moment will be with Shawn; Feeny's will be with Eric; Minkus' will be Farkle; Alan, Amy, and Harley's will be with Cory.
Hey, I've avoided reading Christian's thoughts here, and I'm gonna abstain from writing anything or reading the comments on this one. Odds are someone here will have made a correct prediction, and I'd rather be completely surprised when I watch it.
I love your version of the finale, though the summary we've got so far is along the lines of "everyone comes to help make a decision", so I guess we're missing something. Maybe the Matthews will consider moving, and everyone comes to convince them otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI think they'll also have Shawn officially adopt Maya, just cause it's their last chance to show it and it's something lots of GMW fans (and some BMW fans) really want to see. Maybe he'll be like "But Maya's so troubled, what if it goes horribly wrong? and Mr. Turner will tell him something like "Well you were troubled too, but I loved you and I wanted to adopt you." Something like that. Turner helping Shawn make one of the hardest decisions of his life.
I'm happy with Eric announcing his candidacy, though I hope that's not his main role. I want him to focus on his BMW dynamics. Giving advice to Cory, getting advice from Feeny (hopefully we get a Feeny call) and talking to his parents (hopefully Alan will show that he FINALLY respects Eric).
(continued)
Oh, I didn't even think about adopting. I guess with him now her stepfather it doesn't seem necessary, but sure, I guess it would be nice. She could even change her name to Maya Hunter.
DeleteShawn can't adopt Maya unless Kermit has given up his parental rights, and at no time was that ever mentioned. It isn't like Maya's dad is dead, just dead to her.
DeleteUnless it works very differently in the US; he can. He hasn't acted like a father; you don't need to be dead or actively give up parenting rights to lose parenting privilege.

ReplyDeleteI think Lily Nicksay is a brunette now, at least she is on her IMDb picture. But, yeah, they might use the different color to make her a different character. There's a picture of Lily, Lindsey and August Maturo talking (link below) so I think they'll have a conversation about being the younger sibling or something.

Honestly I hope they'll focus this episode on the BMW characters. I think they should close the GMW plots in Sweet Sixteen. They have like 13 BMW characters to deal with, and I want great last moments with each of them. Let's see what we get.
Oh, I'd like for the only GMW characters in this one to be Riley, Maya, and Katy. We could totally say goodbye to Lucas, Farkle, Zay, and Smackle in Sweet Sixteen. (Well, maybe keep Farkle in "Goodbye" just for his Minkus interraction.)
DeleteI don't even mean that as a slight to the GMW folks. I just think it's better when the last few episodes of shows space out goodbyes. Like I really appreciated how they wrapped up "Angela" in "Angela's Ashes". It allowed Shawn and Angela to have an episode about them that provided closure, while leaving us the finale to deal with other things, so we didn't have to cram in the end of Angela in there too.
Hell, if I'd had my druthers, "Angela's Ashes" would have been the third to last episode, the second to last episode would have been all about Jack and Rachel and the Peace Corps (along with appropriate Jack/Shawn and Jack/Eric/Rachel goodbyes) and then the finale would have been just about Cory, Eric, Shawn, Topanga, Feeny, and the Matthews.
As long as we finally get proper Shawn/Turner and Eric/Feeny interactions I'm fine with just about anything happening.
ReplyDeleteI just hope to God they don't pass those opportunities up. They have A LOT of guests in a 22 minute episode, I could easily see them getting lazy and making most of the guests just interact mostly with Cory and Topanga.
yeah the last time we saw shawn and mr turner in the same episode together was in the boy meets world episode cult fiction i hope they have a good shawn and mr turner scene. Im hoping for a feeny call even though will said he gave the feeny call to the girls and said he will never do it again
DeleteI predict that many of us will be disappointed and we'll wonder why this wasn't a two-parter.
ReplyDeleteI also don't care too much about the kids, just.., just give me TURNER!!!

ReplyDeleteMJ interview on the cancellation and how possible a revival for a season 4 on Netflix is.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thewrap.com/girl-meets-world-showrunner-on-shows-future-there-are-interested-platforms/
... I think he needs to be really careful. It's fine to look into the possibility of a revival on another network, it's fine even to say you'd want to rewrite the next season if that happened.
DeleteBut he needs to avoid any overt criticism of Disney. If I were a network executive, and I had (for example) two shows that had been canned, and both creators had come to me looking for a continuation, I'd be less likely to go with the person who'd been heard saying how bad the cancellation was from the last network; because I'd be thinking "what if it doesn't work out? Is the PR on this going to be a nightmare?"
My uneducated guess is, Disney is going to offer Sabrina Carpenter her own show (and more money) immediately, which would prevent her from doing GMW on another platform. And without Maya, would GMW be worth continuing?
DeleteOut of all of them, Sabrina's probably the least likely as long-term, she has ambitions to be a singer rather than an actor. Not saying she won't act at all; but if they were going to offer someone their own show, I'd suggest it'd be someone who wants to be an actor for the long-term.

ReplyDelete"Goodbye" seems more like the name of a finale, rather than any major game-changer, though if Riley, finally realizing that her "boyfriend" doesn't give a darn about her, ditches Lucas Friar, then I'm for it. I don't think he'll move back to Texas though.
Katy becoming pregnant seems possible, maybe even probably, since that's how lots of shows end seasons. Topanga...is less likely, though still possible. Hey, it's cliched, but it works.
Nah, Eric was already running for President in 2016--albeit at the last minute. But if he took Pennsylvania and New York, that'd be enough to force a vote in the House. Maybe Eric is now the President? One can dream.
As for Cory's parents? A scene where Alan is Grandpa to Riley and Auggie would be nice.
Can we all just pretend that Eric won the 2016 election? It's certainly better than the actual winner we got.
DeleteEric would be better than either of the candidates; discussing politics is probably something best avoided except by people you know very well.
DeleteHeck, I'll discuss politics. Donald Trump is a blight on this country the likes of which I've never experienced in my life. I'm embarrassed and ashamed I live in a nation that would elect him.
DeleteWell, if you're fine with it, okay then. I still think it's a good general rule though - my family has political discussions regularly; and I've seen visitors be uncomfortable on occasion.
DeleteEven here, most people I know were hoping that he wouldn't win; and I'm worried about his long-term effects.
Yeah, normally I'd agree, but I'm sort of at the point that if people don't agree with me on Trump I'm beyond caring if they're comfortable. This whole thing has like.... destroyed me.
DeleteThis is Cryptid.
DeleteSpeaking as a conservative, "Aghast" is the word I'll use to describe the American election results. I am absolutely disgusted that this happened, and that despite having everything imaginable to use against him, Trump won.
I donated to the bargain bin three books from one of my favorite politicians when I realized he was a Trump supporter.
This cycle? I voted third-party. And I honestly don't know if I'll vote Republican at the top of the ticket ever again.

ReplyDeleteRider Strong's given an interview.
https://tvline.com/2017/01/10/girl-meets-world-cancelled-rider-strong-disney-channel-criticism-interview/
awesome, Sam Levine is great. TIL how to pronounce Friedle. I love what they had to say about Will, that's so awesome to hear.
DeleteThis is Cryptid.
DeleteSomething I found interesting is that Rider admitted that BMW had a few duds, which is more than I think a lot of artists would be willing to admit.
that doesn't even remotely surprise me actually, he's by FAR the most publicly critical of the show
DeleteHim and Trina are the only ones I think who have given any criticism of the show at all
DeleteThis is Cryptid.
DeleteI hadn't been aware that Trina was critical of the original show (Not that it would surprise me, necessarily. I would think that the majority of BMW's misses were in those last three years).
That said, I do remember her less-than-stellar response to her return in "Girl Meets Hurricane."
