Something interesting that no one cares about.

I Write Like

It does some statistical analysis on your writing and spits out a similar author. I put in like six of my posts from this blog (just the first segment with the meat of the review) and got a few different authors. The only consistency was Vonnegut who came up three times, in particular for Rah Rah, New Year, and Bay Window. I'm pleased with that.

And this short story I'm "working on" gave me Palahniuk.

I'm really tempted to plug in Christian's too, but I don't want to take the fun away from him.

  1. I like your writing, definitely a big reason I read the blog.

  2. I got David Foster Wallace for "Bay Window." That's all I tried.

I tend not to take things like this too seriously. It's like those Facebook things that are like "Which of your friends are you MOST like?" and then just.... does some random generation and pops out a name without any explanation.

I got Stephanie Meyer (Shut up, Shipping Wars), J.D. Salinger and that Palahiuk guy. Who I had never heard of, but aparently he wrote "Fight Club."

Okay...where'd I put that short story I wrote called "FLight of the Minotuar"? I want to see how that holds up.

    5. Devil’s advocate. There’s this heartbreaking moment in The World of Henry Orient, an old movie that in its setup has some at least superficial similarities to GMW. I would pay money to see Sabrina Carpenter handle that scene, shot that way, and Shawn/Angela could be adapted for that purpose.

However, I am with you Shipping in cursing the idea of damage done to Katy.

    5. Did you hear Lucas say "you 2 didn't decide so I did". You know he isn't talking about the triangle even though Disney went out of their way to make us think he is.

And Cryptid - Simon and Garfunkle is great music. If you are unaware, the song playing in the backround at the end of the season 3 BMW episode "The Grass is Always Greener" after C&T have broken up is an Art Garfunkle song - All I Know.

    6. I'm guessing Lucas is deciding on the Legacy they will leave...so we can bet it ain't a prank of any sort,

1960, do you think we'd be as disgruntled if this whole Triangle arc aired properly? Going from Texas straight to New Year and then Bay Window and Legacy?

      Delete
    7. Hey Cryptid, sorry for the delay. My progress through BMW recently hit the part seemingly most referenced on GMW. So when I see Angela I know how that movie is going to end. As soon I connect the first Lauren episode to Pluto, I’m waiting for a letter, and for the letter to fall into Topanga’s hands. Episodes that have Cory as some sort of chick magnet have also always put mighty strains on my willing credulity. That said, I enjoyed it for what it was, but it wasn’t my favourite stuff.

I pushed through into Season 6 and, after thinking it started out okay, soon discovered why it is lightly regarded by folks around here. That “Wind Beneath Wings” bit was excruciating, and seemed to last forever.

Simon & Garfunkel were one of the staples of my teen years (of course, so was Black Sabbath). If I were your dad, I might try to force feed you Miles and Trane, but would be more than happy you liked Mrs. Robinson. Weird you mention that song, as my pre-ordered copy of The Graduate showed up late this week. I had forgotten that William Daniels was in it.

Question: how old were you and Shipping when you started watching BMW?

    9. Ah, Milestones. I am immensely grateful to have gained your friendship through Girl Meets World.

Season 6 isn't great, but it has some very good episodes. While things were never as neat and tidy on BMW as they are on GMW, Cory and his pals learned the hard way that the World ain't a nice place.

And Shipping and I...we had to be about twelve when we started watching Boy Meets World. It went out of ABC Family and Disney Channel syndication for a couple of years. Then in high school and college, it was on in the early mornings. Shipping and I would watch it with our mother, believe it or not.

It's been a while, what did you mean by "Wind Beneath Wings"? The crisis at the end of the season?

      Delete
    10. Didn't Morgan sing "Wind Beneath My Wings" in the episode "Better Than the Average Cory"? You know the one where we see the celery poster.

      Delete
    11. Oh yeah...you know, for some reason, I can never remember that episode. The celery poster is funny as hell, but other than that...Cory's too mean-spirited.

On the plus side, Milestones must have either just watched or will soon be watching "Everybody Loves Stuart." That's one of my favorite episodes from Season 6, right after "Bee True."

      Delete
    12. Right back at you, Cryptid. Yeah, it was Better Than Average Cory, but if 1960 didn’t mention it, I would have had to look it up. Morgan starts off, and Cory sings over her, in public, to his dad. It was very difficult to watch. Didn’t make for great listening either. Then came Hogs & Kisses. Everybody Loves Stuart is next in the queue.

    Girl Meets: High School 1&2/Jexica/Permanent Record Then - Triangle/Upstate/True Maya/Ski Lodge 1&2 Then - I expect you'll respond.

So they added a few episode names, and the Ski Lodge still comes way too early in the year. No one go skiing before Halloween, at least not in the east that I'm aware of.

Oh and according to folks that attended the taping, Jexica is someone's actual name.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. WTF is True Maya?

I've heard stuff about Jexica and I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'll predict right now-Uncle Eric will be in Upstate.

      Delete
    2. First, come on 1960, it's NYC and millennials--is Jexica really that strange a name? When FARKLE is a name?

The writers want us to respond? Okay.

"True Maya" is one I hadn't heard. That might be interesting; several of us have brought up our discontent with Maya's bad attitude.

Maybe this 30 episode season will take place over two years.

If we don't get a Halloween episode I won't complain.

I don't care what happens at the Ski Lodge; I just want Lucas gone. Almost all of my complaints about the show can be tied back to him being a main cast member.

      Delete
    3. Well remember Farkle was meant to be his last name when they initially developed the character. They changed it afterwards.

They previously mentioned an episode called "She Doesn't Like Me" which isn't mentioned here. While it could just have been pushed back I wonder if they changed the name to "True Maya". I mean "I Am Farkle" went through 2 different titles before they settled on that, working titles change all the time. Same as "Sludge" to "STEM".

      Delete
    4. Literally nothing about that tweet makes sense. It's like they threw up a bunch of word magnets on the fridge and wrote them down as they landed. Except for "Jexica." I can't even conceive of a context where that is a communicable idea, not even as a ship portmanteau. Are they high?

And "I'll expect you'll respond?" Respond with what? I think they really are high!

      Delete
    5. Fair point about Farkle being the surname. But considering the original first name was Shamus (Seamus?), and this isn't the United Kingdom, I stand by my statement. ;)

I forgot about "She Doesn't Like Me." Thought it was "Don't Like Me."

      Delete
    6. BTW, the word "farkle" refers to motorcycle bits. My guess it someone heard it in passing and thought "hey that sounds like a character's name." That's literally how they came up with Topanga (true story)

      Delete
    7. I thought "Farkle" was a reference to that card game.

Did Minkus lose a bet? Actually that would make sense. He lost a bet in a game of Farkle and his son is forever cursed with a dreadful name because of it.

  14. So I know that everyone thinks that Season 3 is going to take place over two years, but is there a possibility that this season takes place over two years? It might clear up some of the inconsistencies (if we would put the episodes in order) and there is evidence pointing towards it. In Texas Part 3, Topanga specifically mentions that the next school year they are heading to high school, not the typical 9th grade. But the biggest thing is that in Girl Meets Father, Riley and Maya are talking about the older girl (with the eyelash curler) and Maya says "this thing goes to 9th grade?" This leads me to believe that John Quincy Adams is a middle school that goes through 9th grade, not the usual 8th. This would help with some continuity, with the possibility that Yearbook and Semiformal take place at the end of 8th grade, then everything with Frakle's new look would be in 9th grade, with Texas taking place sometime in September/October/November timeframe. Then New Year would be take place in the right time of year. So, is it possible that Season 1 is Riley's 7th grade and we see her 8th and 9th grade years in Season 2? Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The writers already admitted in a tweet that the 9th grader was just them screwing up and not realizing it until it was pointed out to them. They admitted they are some of the worst when it comes to continuity, and they don't care.

The kids are in middle school now, that's grades 6-8, not junior high which is typically grades 7-9. And if I remember correctly NYC has elementary and middle schools, not junior highs. High school in NYC is 4 years.

Girl Meets Writers ‏@GMWWriters 40 minutes ago

Permanent Record last night. 4 good shows to start Season 3. Today's Table: GMTriangle. We now resolve this. But of course, the twist.

They have already filmed High School parts 1 and 2, Jexica and Permanent Record. Next will be the triangle that isn't a triangle.

Read an interesting note about Permanent Record from someone that was at the taping. The episode title, while not misleading made me think it would be about one thing, but it was about a completely different thing.

    ReplyDelete

    1. It seems to me that Permanent Record may be something more directed to grades rather than bad behavior.

Giddyup friends, it's going to get wild.

    2. Grades and the classes you pick are a plenty big concern for high schoolers. And the "Permanent Record," while a little dated, is still a fine concept for an episode.

So, this might not be that bad. I'll try to avoid spoilers, all the same.

And I had a thought--what if "the triangle that is not a triangle," rather than referring to an obscure geometric shape, means that one of the parties in the Triangle, who shall remain nameless, (Let's call this party "Boring McBoringson" from Boringtown) does not actually harbor feelings for one of the other parties?

    2. Seriously, though, how big a difference can there be in the direction of a half-hour sit-com?

Hour-long dramas are one thing, but half-hour programs? It really does boil down to writing.

Speaking of writing, I actually had a thought a while ago--I'd love to see more of the cast write some of the episodes. Will Friedel did a fine job with "Semi-formal," and the Eric/Jack scenes were some of the best.

  24. Been a while guys. Was reading the paper today when the "Dear Abby" Saturday Edition caught my eye.

Long story short, the writer has become a father figure to his teeanged daughter's best friend. The friend in question, whom was given the pseudonym "Maya" had actually started calling LW "Dad." LW wondered if he was risking alienating his own children, the two youngest in particular.

    That got me to thinking:

Do Cory and Topanga have too prominent a role in OUR Maya's life?

I wasn't able to come to a conclusion by myself, so I thought I would hear what you guys had to say.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, I don't think so. Our Maya doesn't seem to be confused on who her parents are, neither Riley nor Auggie appear to be alienated by Cory and Topanga's closeness with Maya, and also that closeness has been downplayed lately. Cory and Topanga take an extra interest in Maya, but they actually don't feel like they're regarding her as another daughter quite as much as they did in Season 1. Part of that is Katy having an increased role in the series to take up the slack, part of it is Shawn, and part of it is that Cory and Topanga haven't been quite as involved in the show at all lately.

      Delete
    2. Thanks for responding, Christian.

I'm inclined to agree, at least within the context of parenthood. Cory the Teacher devotes almost as much time to Maya as he does to Riley, but there's no use in beating a dead horse.

As for Topanga, I wouldn't say that she is too involved in Maya's life, but I would say that she isn't nearly involved enough in Riley's life. Topanga doesn't seem alienated from Riley, but she certainly isn't the pillar she should be.

    2. Man, the romance stuff for the GMW absolutely could not have gone as planned with Uriah damn near killing himself on a bike, and now Tanner leaving. They've pretty much had to rely on Peyton simply out of necessity.

      Delete
    3. Uriah was only supposed to be in New Year. Uncle Josh would have only been another elephant in the room. That being said, it would have been interesting to see Charming Charlie interact with "You're-no-Shawn-Hunter" Josh. Especially if Josh picked up on how awkward Riley felt around Charlie.

As for Tanner, it's a shame. He brought an element of uncertainty that was welcome in GMW. That new show actually sounds really cool, so I'm sure he'll be fine.

      Delete
    4. Oh, and I think Josh was also slated for Legacy, but whether there would be romance or not, I'm not sure.

    2. Good question. I'll need some time to give more in depth answers, but that's a very good question.

Okay, what was I hoping to see?

I was hoping to see school be treated seriously, that education has value. Disney has a long history of school being treated as a chore. But BMW treated school as a gateway, an opportunity.

I was also hoping to see Topanga be given a more prominent role, at least on par with Cory's.

Most of us BMW veterans revere Alan Matthews, lauding him as one of the best fathers on television, a pillar balancing guidance and affection and respect. I would argue that Alan was actually more important than Feeny, in an episode-to-episode basis, for the first two seasons.
For quite a long time, the most influential person in Cory's life was his dad. And I wish that for Riley, her most influential person would be her mother.

I know he was dropped from the pilot, but I wish we could have seen Elliot. A goofy older brother who likes to use his sister as a wrestling dummy could have been charming. At the very least, Riley would have someone in her life who doesn't have any role in the love obscure-geometric-shape.

Moving on, has the show reached my expectations?

Well, when this show is good, it is very good. The dynamics between the Core Four...okay, the dynamics between Riley, Farkle, and Maya are actually pretty strong. Sure they beat us over the head with "We're friends and we love each other," but at the same time, you do get the impression these kids are friends. And any episode with Shawn or Eric is one I will watch, because I love Eric and Shawn. And "Pluto," "Semi-formal," and "Yearbook" are all network-quality, easily as good if not better than any episode from the first two seasons of the original show.

But the show is often not very good.

What can be done to redeem?

I'll go more into specific story arcs after the finale, when it'd be more appropriate to contemplate on what might come. Plots will be plots, after all, and since I do know a few spoilers, I won't touch that.

Instead, I will focus on the lessons.

First I will say that this show tends to have its heart in the right place, and there's been only a small handful of times when I've disagreed with the message. I'll elaborate if you want, Anonymous, but first let me say this:

This show is trying to hard to educate a large group. Cory's classroom and all that. But more to the point, when they try to paint with broad strokes, it weakens the message.

BMW succeeded when the lessons focused on smaller, inter-personal dynamics. Compare "Chick Like Me" to "STEM."

In "Chick Like Me," Shawn, as an individual, decides to take on a girl's identity in order to see things from their point of view after a messy date, and is disturbed when he realizes that he, as a person, has not treated girls very respectfully. BMW took a big problem, let one person realize it and then decide to change their individual habits.

"STEM" on the other hand takes on a societal problem, and tries to get too many people to change. People admit they were wrong, kind of, but the only person to actually apologize was Farkle. There's a problem, but instead of handling it one-on-one, they go too big, and when the problem is made worse, the instigators are not called out on it.

It's a little rambling, but that's what it boils down to. Keep the stories inter-personal. A fair few episodes have done this, "Brother" and "Forgotten" from Season 1 and "Rah Rah" and "Farkle" from Season 2, and they're considerably better than the other message episodes they aired close to.

    3. Good stuff, Cryptid. Once I finish the BMW cycle, I'm looking forward to re-watching the more BMW-centric GMW episodes. I think they will feel much different.

    4. That really was well thought out Cryptid - but I will always disagree about having an older brother. It is already stretching credibility to believe C&T had a kid before they finished college. To have an older brother in the show Topanga would have had to have been pregnant during the series finale, and that is suspending my disbelief too far.

    5. Oh, I recognize that 1960, and I probably wouldn't have mentioned Elliot if he had been dropped before the pilot was filmed. But since they did hire Teo Halm, and later decided to drop him for whatever reason, it would have felt awkward not mentioning him.

Agree to disagree, I suppose. But I think we can agree that having Elliot would have been much better than having Troy Matthews--apparently, in early drafts Riley was supposed to have a cousin close to her age, but that was dropped once people started asking who the hell Eric married.

  29. So the following was posted by a person who was at the live taping this past Tuesday:

"We made the mistake of creating this stupid storyline. We're backed up into a corner and now we have to find a way to get out of it." - Michael Jacobs. GM Triangle

I assume that was paraphrasing, but if he did indeed say that it's almost a mea culpa that for whatever reason, they have completely forgotten how to write a coming of age show and succumbed to the shippers. Boo on them if it's true.

    1. Mmmmmm I definitely want to believe it. I don't know why he'd say it at the taping but not on like Twitter or something though.

    2. I can't see Michael Jacobs actually saying that it was "a stupid storyline." I can see him admitting it was a mistake, but I can't imagine him saying something that critical at a taping.

But they are in deep trouble. After the finale airs tomorrow, I'll elaborate my position.

I'll say this: Girl Meets World convinced me NOT to EVER have any romance in my coming-of-age novel.

    3. As I said I assume the poster was paraphrasing. I agree that it seems unlikely that is a direct quote.

    4. I've seen several people who claim to have been there who said he did say that, but I wasn't there, so can't say for sure. I think they had a straight forward story that went from Yearbook - Legacy where everything would be wrapped up. Then Uriah had his accident so they had to remove Josh and make a detour. Every detour I've ever taken has been long and winding in order to get to the original destination. They fell into the Writer's trap of this is the destination they wanted, but outside events changed things and instead of rethinking where they wanted to end up, they tried to force the story to go where they planned.
I sometimes think they should have replaced Uriah, like Morgan, and continued the story they already planned. Maybe have Maya make a comment like "Josh, you've changed."

    5. I'd start this serial arc with Semi-formal, since it's when Riley begins questioning her feelings rather than Yearbook, but that's me.

Looking at this critically, starting with Semi-formal and going through Texas and New Year (That shouldn't be New Year, but what I digress) and now Legacy, I can't say that we've actually spent too much time on this arc. But you are right, the detours have not been done well--though I wonder how we'd have responded to the episodes if we had seen them BEFORE Semi-formal.

In any event, since Uncle Josh was only supposed to be in New Year (And maybe Legacy, but I'm not positive) I'm not sure replacing Uriah would have been worth it.

    7. I'd keep the spoilers on the down-low, Patrick.

Really, we could start the triangle as far back as "Boy." Lucas said he delivered a colt, and the specific breed was palomino, a horse noted for its majestic blond mane.

    8. This is the comment that I deleted...just took out the semi-spoiler. It goes above Cryptid456's reply above.

Might even start it at Secret of Life as that's where Maya had a reaction to Lucas when he held the bully against the lockers. The only reason I said Yearbook is because that's what Jacobs keeps saying.

Josh was supposed to be in New Year and Legacy, and, according to rumor, there was supposed to be a scene where Josh told Maya how he felt towards her but still claiming being too old for her, which, if true, would have changed the dynamics.

  30. New interview with Jacobs hit the web today - much the same crap as the tweets. Here it is for you to read in it's entirety: http://www.thewrap.com/girl-meets-world-creator-on-shows-biggest-storyline-this-could-not-possibly-be-a-love-triangle/

    2. Oh God, he may as well said that Disney is pulling all the strings.

How in the hell is the World tougher for Riley than it was for Cory?

I'll set aside the network vs cable, which isn't just a dead horse by now, it's a damn skeleton. The very idea is absurd! Cory goes out of his way to make everything as easy as pie for his daughter.
And though I could forgive that--Alan went easy on Eric and Cory all the time--the entire world follows suit! Her entire class confronts Riley's bully--which let's face it, does not happen. That billionaire Rand bailed Riley out of the credit card snafu. The last bloody act of "Creativity" where they save the art program.

And how the world is different? Sure, they've touched on the differences that have occurred, and I think there's actually a fair few more stories that can be told, but for the most part, they haven't taken advantage of the modern world.

Bigger broader questions than this damn triangle? Feelings in general, it seems like. There's merit in that. But I don't see how they can do it effectively, since Riley's spent the last two years worshiping the ground Lucas walks on.

"Girl Meets." Yeah, fine. Whatever. Titles are a pain, but I'm more bothered by the idea that Riley doesn't often learn something new. These kids, especially Maya, avoid change. Maya actually demands things never change. And when you keep returning to the status quo, it weakens the journey.

Jacobs saying that Riley and Maya's friendship is central more than anything else to GMW? Fine...but that's an issue in itself. As awesome as the friendship between Cory and Shawn is, and as iconic as it is, I'm not sure I would say it's the most defining relationship of the original show, and by extent I don't think Riley and Maya's friendship should be the end-all, be-all here.

    3. Let the record state that I still have immense respect for Michael Jacobs, but my points remain.

He may have given us what may be the best coming-of-age show for boys becoming men, but I cannot in good conscience say that the same is true for GMW being among the best coming-of-age show for girls becoming women.

      Delete
    4. I can only take Jacobs at what he said here. And what he said here smacks of arrogance and self aggrandizing. He's feeling himself pretty well here. I, for one, am sick of tired of the "its not a triangle" bit. And when he added the "its all in the pilot...Riley and Maya..." I almost lost it out loud. Is he trying to say that Riley and Maya will "overcome" this romantic angle they themselves have written? Give me a fucking break. I honestly believe at this point he has no clue on where to go from here.

    5. There is a lot I'd like to say to Michael Jacobs but I'll let my friend Penn handle it:

    6. As I recall, pwfan, Jacobs does have an endgame in mind. He would like the show to end with the gang graduating from high school. So I wouldn't say he has no clue where to go from here. He has the end in mind for Riley and Maya, at least.

What I will say is that he dropped the ball big time in having Lucas Friar be part of the main cast. Tomorrow the season finale airs and believe you me, I have quite a bit to say about Lucas.

Jacobs said near the end of the interview that he hopes kids take from GMW the value of deep, personal friendships and how if you build friendships strong enough, those friendships will stay with you, come what may.

That's certainly something, and an excellent foundation for a show, but it isn't enough.

Not the end of the triangle. Because it's not a triangle.
Tonight: The beginning of something else.

Now even I'm beginning to get tired of what Jacobs is trying to get us to believe.

    3. The only explanation I can think of is that by "triangle," Jacobs is insisting that this isn't going to be like the Archie Comics, with two girls throwing themselves at a willing boy. Things are supposedly more complicated.

Fair enough, but why in the name of God did you decide to do this Jacobs?

It's enough to make me want to cry.

I mean, look what's on the channel!

Bunk'd, Best Friends Whenever, Dog With A Blog! None of them, remotely important! But Girl Meets World could be so much more! So much more!

  32. After you guys watch Legacy tonight you should stay on Disney for a little while longer. Watch the premiere of Stuck in the Middle. While it isn't great, the 2 episodes I've already seen are head and shoulders above Bunk'd and Best Friends Whenever and it looks like nothing else currently on Disney. No Disney color and real sets, no studio. It truly reminds me of a network sitcom.

After that is the world premiere of Sabrina's new music video "Smoke and Fire". Her music isn't really my thing, but she has a nice enough voice.

    2. I agree with that Cryptid, but style-wise, it looks like a throw-back to Lizzie McGuire which was the best Disney Show on at the time. Storyline wise it looks like just another knockoff of Malcom in the Middle, but with a girl in the lead and more kids.

    3. After watching Stuck in the Middle 1960sPoster is definitely correct. This show is a great breath of fresh air from what I've currently been seeing with shows like BFW,Bunkd and Dog with a Blog. There's no canned laughter and it has this vibe that I got as a real family that genuinely cares for each other without having to say it everytime. If you guys on this blog haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it.

Thanks for mentioning it. When the pilot got released, i was considering saying something about how it reminds me of more 'classic' sitcom. Then, however, i thought maybe dem people yah are only gonna stay on channel to watch GMW if they can bare it so....
But, yeah, i especially like the lack of laugh track

  33. Second part of the interview with Michael Jacobs

    http://www.thewrap.com/girl-meets-world-creator-previews-season-3-high-school-will-not-be-an-easy-adjustment/

    Good God.

When will we see this triangle get resolved?
This will be answered in Season 3. It will span probably a third to a half of Season 3. Not as primary focus, but always as an underlying thing in existence for the characters. And then when we bring it up to primary, we will resolve it in a way that shows an answer to a much bigger question, which is, how do young people at this age perceive relationships? What is the value of them? And what are our friendships, really? If the audience perceives that what we’re talking about is 14-year olds in love, they have missed what we’re doing entirely. All of this will explain itself as part of the season.

Excuse me while I clean up my vomit.

    1. So in there Jacobs finally admits that after 2 years of saying that being on Disney Channel wouldn't effect the stories they tell, or how they tell them, that they cannot do what they want because the channel's demographic is so young. He really should have told us what we all really knew at the beginning, but I'm guessing if he had done that he might have lost his audience before he had one.

    2. Maybe if this was years when Boy Meets World was still airing on Disney Channel, I could see this show being totally different from what it is now. I don't who the execs were back then but the new ones aren't going to allow those heavy subjects to be aired on Disney Channel nowadays especially with the soccer moms complaining.

    3. I've tried not to pay attention to stuff like that. But that's hard to ignore.

The funny thing is, of the episodes cited above in this story line, and I'd start with Yearbook just because, the only one I wouldn't make a case for is Legacy.

      Delete
    4. Okay, even I've reached my limit.

      Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.

Does Disney Channel having any clue how bad they fucked things up?

Do they pay no attention at all?

Why the actual hell did they decide to air on Disney Channel? I get that that's who approached Jacobs for the reboot of Boy Meets World and when he came up with GMW, he went to them first.

But Disney has held back this show dramatically. The demographic starts at six-year-olds. You cannot tell a story that shows that the world is sometimes not-so-nice on this Channel.

Damn Disney. Damn damn damn Disney.

I do not want to watch another half season of Riley worshiping Lucas Friar. I do not want another who-knows-how-many-episodes of Lucas not returning Riley's feelings, but going along with it. God damn Lucas Friar. Friar is a disgrace to all things of the Feeny-verse. Damn it.

      Delete
    5. Cryptid, I'm sure the demographic doesn't really start at 6, I'm pretty sure that Jacobs just misspoke there (pretty sure I've read Disney say it's 8-14). While I'm not a huge Lucas fan, he isn't nearly as bad as you are making him out to be.

To be fair though the BMW kids didn't really go through anything like this triangle/not triangle until the show and the kids were much more mature. The show runners certainly dropped the ball there.

    6. I think you might be right, 1960.

I'm a bit calmer now. My brother was right--I lost my head a bit. More than a bit. It takes a lot to get me to swear in most circumstances. I'm sorry, guys.

I still believe that Lucas Friar is far and away the weakest part of the show, but I was out-of-line. I'm just frustrated. It's gotten to the point where I would rather watch the beginning of Season 7 and Topanga being all angsty about the idea of love and marriage.

The writers had thirty episodes this season--they could have very easily structured this arc better. Heck, they could have finished it.

Not that anyone cares, but I checked part of a short story I never finished and it gave me Stephen King. I genuinely don't understand that, because I've read a few of his books (mostly Dark Tower stuff) and don't think my voice is anything like his.

checked a cyoa i did in an astronomy course and: agatha christie. dafuq

    checked an essay and...arthur clarke.

checked half of that essay and...h.p. lovecraft. dafuq

the first half was george orwell, btw. so i guess 2001 is the baby of war of the worlds and the call of cthulu

Also I've finished season 2 but haven't had much to say about any episode, except some SERIOUS PERSONAL STUFF that I wasn't sure I wanted to post on the "Farkle has Asperger's...WAIT NO HE DOESN'T" review.
